Grace Buckley, a New York City-based choreographer who has previously worked with D'Amelio, stated that the teen "has always had a natural, self-assured sense of style while dancing, which has translated very successfully to TikTok." D'Amelio has honed the finer points of a TikTok dance performance, including facial expressions, hand movements, timing, and flow. “Her command of dynamics makes it look effortless,” said Luna Montana, a dancer and YouTuber.[9][9]

Charli created a secondary TikTok account, @barleydamelio12345432, after her primary accounts went viral, to post more personal videos. In just one day, the account gained over one million followers.[11] Since then, it has amassed over 4 million followers.[11][14]

Following fan speculation, Charli confirmed their relationship with an Instagram post on Valentine's Day.[1] In February 2020, Charlie appeared in a Super Bowl commercial for Sabra Hummus along with other celebrities.[1][25]

Relationships

Chase Hudson

Chase Hudson a.k.a Lil Huddy was Charli's girlfriend and a member of the Hype House during the pre-2020 era of TikTok.[31][32] Their appearances, Nearly a month after the "America's Sweetheart" video premiered, Charli and Chase were seen at the iHeartRadio Music Awards. Regardless of walking the carpet together, the two have not confirmed being in a relationship.[31] In April 2020, Chase dropped the music video for his song, "America's Sweetheart" which featured Charli as his love interest.[31]

Charli also shared an Instagram post about her experience filming the video. "This video shows a side of me i never truly get to showcase out of fear but chase gave me a place to feel comfortable enough to share the improve did on set!" Everyone made me feel so at ease and supported me throughout the day!! I am beyond grateful for the opportunity to appear in this video and be a part of this work of art with the person on whom I can rely for anything."[31]

Things took a turn for the worse just as it appeared that Chase and Charli were on the verge of rekindling their romance.[31] Charli called out Chase for allegedly cheating on her during a night of drama that included nearly the entire TikTok community.[31] Chase responded by accusing many other TikTok stars of cheating on their significant others. Things became heated, but both Chase and Charli have since apologized for their respective responses and confirmed that they spoke privately and are on good terms.[31]

Landon Barker

Landon Barker became Charli's boyfriend in June 2022. A month later, they confirmed their relationship. Although, they are very much in love and happy along with family and friends about their relationship; Charli's ex-boyfriend, Chase, was not one of them. Although the two had been broken up for some time, he and Landon were good friends, and got very upset with him pursuing his ex. Chase unfollowed Landon, and broke off their somewhat friendship.

In November 2022, Charli became the winner of Dancing with the Stars' 31st season. Landon proudly made an Instagram about his girlfriend's dancing skills. "So proud of you!!! You're a star"

He appeared for an episode on her family's reality show, during the beginning of their relationship.

Controversies

Dinner with the D'Amelios

She is on the verge of reaching 100 million followers, but she lost at least one million of them this week after releasing the first episode of a new series called "Dinner With the D'Amelios" on her YouTube channel. The series will feature her family sharing a meal with a different surprise guest each week, beginning with makeup artist James Charles. In the video, the family and Charles are seated for a paella dinner prepared by private chef Aaron May.[33][34]

May explains to the table after Dixie encounters a snail in the traditional Spanish dish, "It's classic paella, and it's actually an omen of good luck and fortune" to which Charli scoffs, "Liars." Dixie takes a small bite of the snail before gagging and running outside to vomit in front of the chef after everyone at the table encourages her to try it. During the scene, their mother, Heidi, gently chastises her daughter, covering her face with her hand and saying to Dixie, “So dramatic. Excuse yourself!” Charli then asks May, who has been inducted into the Arizona Culinary Hall of Fame as a "Chef Extraordinaire," if she can have some dinosaur nuggets instead.[33][34][35]

At the later point in the video, Charli says, “Ugh, I just wish I had more time because imagine if I hit 100 mil one year after hitting a mil." Charles quips, “95 million not enough for you?” To which she responds, “Well I was just saying, like, even numbers,” before trailing off with a smile and a shrug.[33][34]

Her sister Charli also shared her response to the controversy on Instagram Live, questioning whether or not she even wants to stay on the app anymore when she's receiving so much hate from “people blatantly disrespecting the fact that I'm still a human being.” She added, “I know this is going to be a huge joke to whoever sees it, but like, at the end of the day, just be nice.[33]

Travelling to Bahamas during COVID-19 Pandemic

Charli and Dixie D'Amelio went on a group vacation to the Bahamas with several of TikTok's biggest influencers during COVID-19 pandemic. According to Instagram influencer watchdog @TikTokRoom, the sisters have been spotted on vacation with Noah Beck, Chase Hudson, and others. Photographer-influencer Bryant posted videos of himself, Avani Gregg, and Anthony Reeves, and TikToker Madi Monroe posted a photo of herself maskless on a private jet to the islands.[35]

Fans have also shared TikTok videos with the influencers they met. Following the backlash, the D'Amelios and Gregg have all stopped posting, though some of their other group members are still flexing for the 'gram. We understand, you're at an Atlantis Resort (per the location tags fans have used). We've seen the commercials as well.[36]

It's unclear whether the TikTokers have seen the most recent COVID-19 data from Los Angeles County, where they live. California recently surpassed 2 million COVID cases and 25,000 coronavirus-related deaths. Given the increase in cases, film productions in the county have been encouraged to slow down and stop traveling.[36]

Fans are especially irritated with Charli D'Amelio, who lectured fans about the pandemic on Instagram Live on December 29, just days before her vacation was made public. “If you're using this time to hang out with your friends because you don't have school, please, I implore you, stop being so inconsiderate to others, “You may think this isn’t going to affect me or it isn’t that bad. You are putting other people at risk to get hurt and to be in pain.[36]

Net Worth

Charli has had a very successful career as a social media influencer for one and a half years. She is one of the world's highest-paid TikTok stars.[25] Her net worth is $8 million.[25] The majority of her net worth is derived from the payments she receives for each TikTok video she uploads. It's been reported that she charges a minimum of $100,000 for a single sponsored post, and that figure is sure to rise as her channel grows.[25]

Aside from TikTok, she earns a substantial amount of money from other sources such as endorsements, merchandise, YouTube revenue share, and sponsored posts.[25] She reportedly earned $1 million for her appearance in a Sabra Hummus 2020 Super Bowl commercial. Charli is still a teenager, and her net worth is expected to skyrocket in the near future as she pursues her dreams.[25]
